Teeming 'Kolorom' Vans All Over Zambosur Highways
| NOT ONLY ARE "kolorom" or unregistered vehicles polluting Zambosur, they are also freely traversing the highways under the noses of authorities. New Land Transportation Office (LTO) Regional Chief of Operations Olloy Jallaludin said he is referring to vans with green plates which pass off as utility vehicles and ferry passengers to and from any destination. This practice is illegal since passenger vans are issued yellow plates while private vans are usually green, he said. Jallaludin added that 'kolorom' vans will have difficulty in compensating their passengers for insurance in case there is an accident. He added that what their office can do is only to apprehend the said vehicles and tell its owners to register and apply franchise at the Land Transportation Franchise and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). With regard to this, the Provincial Board has passed a resolution requesting LTFRB to conduct a mobile registration or set up a satellite office in the province to facilitate listing. Jallaludin said that half the number of the apprehended vans that move through as public conveyance vehicles are koloroms. (MM MEDINA with JONG CADION) |
